Best of 2013 - Top 10 Nail Polishes!

Hi, you guys! :)

As we prepare to ring in 2014, I wanted to put together a "top 10" of 2013 post to share with you. I had so much fun looking back through all the polishes of the year as I was preparing this list. I actually started on this a few days ago, but was having a heck of a time trying to narrow down to just 10. It was so hard lol! :D But I've finally done it. So without further ado, here are my favorites of the year:

China Glaze All Wrapped Up

Hi, you guys! Hope your week is going well. :)

I wanted to close out the China Glaze Happy HoliGlaze Collection today with the last, but definitely not least, of the set. All Wrapped Up is filled with small indigo blurple shimmers and glitters in a sheer base.

The formula is the same as the other two similar glitters in the collection (Put A Bow On It and This Is Tree-mendous). The first coat is a little sheer and patchy, but it builds up nicely to opaque coverage in three coats. I thought this one had an easier application than the other two, but I could just be getting used to the formula. :)

Now that I've tried the whole collection, I must say that I really enjoyed this set. There are colors for everyone, from those who enjoy traditional shades to those who want something a little more original. If I had to pick favorites, I'd say I really love the bright foils, especially So Blue Without You and Elfin' Around. What do you guys think? Which are your must-haves from this collection?

You can find All Wrapped Up at your local nail salons and at beauty stores such as Ulta and Sally Beauty for a retail price of $7.50 for 0.5 fl oz.

China Glaze Put A Bow On It

Happy weekend, you guys! :)

Today I've got another festive polish from the China Glaze Happy HoliGlaze Collection to share with you. Put A Bow On It is made up of predominantly small pink and purple shimmers and glitters in a sheer base.

The first coat is quite sheer and patchy, but it builds up with additional coats. I think it's because with the first coat, there's nothing already on the nail for the glitters to grab onto, but with the subsequent coats, the glitters will catching onto the existing glitters and fill in the holes and uneven patches, if that makes sense. :) It gets to a nice coverage at three coats, which is what I did for the swatches. It doesn't dry too gritty, though a top coat always helps if that is a concern.

You can find Put A Bow On It at your local nail salons and at beauty stores such as Ulta and Sally Beauty for a retail price of $7.50 for 0.5 fl oz.

China Glaze Bells Will Be Blinging

Hi, you guys! Hope you're having a fantastic week! :)

Today, I've got another interesting glitter from the China Glaze Happy HoliGlaze Collection to share with you. Bells Will Be Blinging is a mix of blue and silver holographic round and short bar glitters all in a sheer base.

This is such a fun and unique combination of glitters. I'm usually not a fan of bar glitters, but I really like the ones in here. I think it's because the bars are wider and shorter, so they don't look hairy lol. And the holographic nature of the silver makes it look like little rainbows slices. Application for this is super easy. The glitter density is great, so I just did one coat over So Blue Without You for the swatches.

You can find Bells Will Be Blinging at your local nail salons and at beauty stores such as Ulta and Sally Beauty for a retail price of $7.50 for 0.5 fl oz.

China Glaze So Blue Without You

Hi, you guys! I am so happy because I am officially on vacation from now until the end of the year. :) I've been looking forward to this since the same time last year, and it's finally here! 26 whole days of no work and no stress. I can't wait to catch up on my sleep and just have a lot of me-time. :D

Today, I have another favorite of mine from the China Glaze Happy HoliGlaze Collection to share with you. So Blue Without You is an intense saturated medium aqua blue with a shimmery foil metallic finish.

I just love bright, intense shades like this. Wearing such colors always cheers me up on a dreary winter's day, and this one's no different. Because of the aqua tint, you can see a slight green to the shimmer, most noticeable under artificial lights. The formula is pigmented and easy to apply. It's a little uneven on the first coat, but the second coat fills in everything and achieves complete coverage.

You can find So Blue Without You at your local nail salons and at beauty stores such as Ulta and Sally Beauty for a retail price of $7.50 for 0.5 fl oz.

China Glaze Just Be-Claws

Happy Thursday! Hope the week is going well for you! :)

Today, I've got another festive shade from the China Glaze Happy HoliGlaze Collection to share with you. Just Be-Claws is your quintessential holiday ruby red with a shimmery foil metallic finish.

You really can't go wrong with a traditional red like this. It's so shimmery and festive, perfect for this time of the year. It's not the most original shade of red, but it's a great one to have if you don't already have another like it. The application is smooth and even, just like all the other shimmery foils from this collection. I did two quick coats for the swatches, but I think you can get away with just one.

Overall, I'm really impressed with the selection of reds from this collection. There's a red for everyone: Just Be-Claws if you want a traditional holiday red, Santa Red My List if you want a cooler pink red, and Elfin' Around if you want a warmer coral red. And all three have just the most excellent formulas. It's been a while since I've been excited about reds, but this is definitely among my favorite polish offerings from this holiday season.

You can find Just Be-Claws at your local nail salons and at beauty stores such as Ulta and Sally Beauty for a retail price of $7.50 for 0.5 fl oz.

China Glaze This Is Tree-mendous

Hi, you guys! Happy middle of the week! :)

Today, I've got another of the glitters from the China Glaze Happy HoliGlaze Collection to show you. This Is Tree-mendous is made of predominantly small forest green shimmers and glitters in a sheer base.

I love wearing greens during the holiday season, so this is right up my alley. The smattering of yellow among the green makes the whole polish look so bright, fresh, and sparkly. The first coat is a little sheer, but the coverage builds up nicely with additional coats. Three coats is what I did for the swatches, and it's totally opaque at that. I would have liked to see a little more glitter density for easier application, but it's not too bad as is. :)

You can find This Is Tree-mendous at your local nail salons and at beauty stores such as Ulta and Sally Beauty for a retail price of $7.50 for 0.5 fl oz.

China Glaze Be Merry, Be Bright

Hi, you guys! Hope your week is off to a happy start! :)

Today, I wanted to show you another fun glitter from the China Glaze Happy HoliGlaze Collection. Be Merry, Be Bright is a glitter polish filled with magenta and purple small to medium glitters all in a sheer base.

The application is a little tricky, as the glitters have a tendency to clump together. If you apply using traditional strokes, the glitters will stick to each other and all move as a clump from cuticle to free edge. I had better success dabbing the polish onto the nails, as that allowed for good glitter distribution and coverage. The glitters are plentiful, so I did just one coat of it on Santa Red My List for the swatches.

You can find Be Merry, Be Bright at your local nail salons and at beauty stores such as Ulta and Sally Beauty for a retail price of $7.50 for 0.5 fl oz.

China Glaze Santa Red My List

Hi, you guys! Hope those of you in the US had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and everyone's having a great weekend! :)

Today, continuing with the China Glaze Happy HoliGlaze Collection, I've got a really stunning jewel tone to share with you. Santa Red My List is a cool-toned magenta red in a shimmery foil metallic finish.

This is a rich and festive shade, exactly what I love for the holidays. Depending on the lighting, it can look more pink or more red. This is another in the collection that has a perfect formula. Each coat goes on smoothly, evenly, and with lots of pigmentation, and you need just one coat for total coverage. :)

You can find Santa Red My List at your local nail salons and at beauty stores such as Ulta and Sally Beauty for a retail price of $7.50 for 0.5 fl oz.

China Glaze Elfin' Around

Hi, you guys! :D

Gosh, it's really starting to feel like the holiday season now! Decorations are up everywhere and with Thanksgiving being this week, it means I can officially break out the holiday music without anyone giving me weird looks lol. I love pretty much everything about this time of the year, though my favorite is definitely getting time off from work... can't wait! My least favorite is probably how crazy it gets at the mall, with no place to park, long lines at checkout, and just general madness. What are your favorite/least favorite things about this time of year?

Today, I've got another festive shade from the China Glaze Happy HoliGlaze Collection to share with you. Elfin' Around is a warm rusty red with hints of coral and pink in a shimmery foil metallic finish.

Oh my word, look how glowy this polish is! I just love warm reds like this, as they tend to look better on my skintone than cooler reds do. The formula and application is total perfection. It's smooth and even, without any streaking or clumping. And you need just one coat for total opaque coverage! This is definitely one of my favs from the collection, and probably my favorite red from this holiday season's offerings. :)

You can find Elfin' Around at your local nail salons and at beauty stores such as Ulta and Sally Beauty for a retail price of $7.50 for 0.5 fl oz.

China Glaze Your Present Required

Hi, you guys! Happy weekend! We've been having a string of sunny days here (really unusual for this time of the year when it's usually rainy), so I've been out and about soaking up the sun. :D

Today, I've got a fun glitter from the China Glaze Happy HoliGlaze Collection to share with you. Your Present Required is a colorful mix of small to medium hex glitters in the colors blue, purple, peach, white, and gold all in a sheer base.

I really like the combination of colors in this glitters. It's a little unusual, but they look really great together. The application is a little odd. It's hard to get the glitters to stay in place on the nails as you stroke from cuticle to free edge. They kind of clump together and have a tendency to get dragged along with the brush. I ended up using short dabbling motions, which really helped in getting the glitters to stay in place. I did one coat over Mingle With Kringle, and I just love the way they look together. The gold base really sets off the colors in this glitter. :)

You can find Your Present Required at your local nail salons and at beauty stores such as Ulta and Sally Beauty for a retail price of $7.50 for 0.5 fl oz.
